A Semimicro Modification of the Karr Urea Determination Method Using the Somogyi Serum Filtrate.
نویسنده
چکیده
B ECAUSE of the pressing need for conserving both the patient’s blood and laboratory time, an attempt has been made to modify the Karr urea method (1) for semimicro amounts of Somogyi filtrate (2). Since this serum filtrate was already being used for glucose in our clinical laboratory, the saving of time and material which such a method would bring-if accurate enough for clinical purposes-was obvious.

An Improved Method for the Simple and Accurate Colorimetric Determination of Urea with Ehrlich's Reagent.
An improved method for the colorimetric determination of urea is described. The method is simple, requiring a deproteinized filtrate obtained after treatment of a small quantity of whole oxalated blood, serum, plasma or urine with 12.5% trichloracetic acid containing 50 g. activated carbon. The addition of Ehrlich's reagent to this filtrate results in the immediate production of a stable yellow...
متن کاملSimple, rapid method for determination of propionic acid and other short-chain fatty acids in serum.
A semimicro method for measuring propionic and other short-chain fatty acids in serum is presented. The procedure requires as little as 200 microliter of serum. Data are provided for premature infants, children, adults, and patients with propionicacidemia.

Methods for the determination of urea in biological fluids have passed through an interesting cycle (cf. Peters and Van Slyke (3) pp. 539-544). The earliest procedures were strictly chemical ones, involving precipitation of the urea as an insoluble mercury complex or decomposition of the urea by means of heat or hypobromite. The use of the highly specific enzyme urease occurring in the jack and...
متن کاملDetermination of the serum level of aluminum & zinc in hemodialysis patients in Kerman,Iran
Dialysis is one of the effective methods which has been used since 1955 for the treatment of patients suffering from renal failure( more often of its chronic type). The dialysis results in the elimination of waste materials like urea and creatinine from the body, on the other hand, it can affect the serum contamination of the dialysis fluid. Aluminium is one of trace elements which its serum le...
